The LPC2000 family can be further divided into 5 groups: LPC21xx and LPC22xx.

LPC21xx

The LPC21xx come in a tiny 9mmx9mm (including pins) LQFP48 package (0.5 mm pin pitch). Some of them cost less than a typical 8-bit microcontroller -- less than $5 in ones from Digikey 2008.

See LPC21xx for more details.

LPC22xx

The LPC22xx series are much like the LPC21xx series, but with an external memory controller so it can directly execute programs out of a external 32-bit-wide external Flash or RAM device. The LPC22xx come in a small 22mmx22mm (including pins) LQFP144 package (0.5 mm pin pitch). Some of them cost less than $10 in ones from Newark 2010.

See LPC22xx for more details.

LPC23xx

The LPC23xx series are much like the LPC21xx series, but with USB, CAN, and Ethernet interfaces. Most LPC23xx come in a small 16mmx16mm (including pins) LQFP-100 package (0.5 mm pin pitch). Some of them cost less than the higher-end 8-bit microcontroller -- less than $9 in ones from Digikey 2008. Those have no external data bus, but they can simultaneously run the application, USB 2.0 "full-speed", CAN 2.0B with two channels, and Ethernet 10/100. Also 10 bit ADC (6 inputs) and a 10 bit DAC. Also I2S, three I2C, three SPI/SSP, and four UARTs.

LPC24xx

The LPC24xx series come in a LQFP-208 or TFBGA-208 package.
