The STA013 will convert MP3 (input via I2C) into a synchronous serial data stream to feed into a serial DAC.
The STA013 will convert MP3 (input via a synchronous serial interface that can be produced from SPI) and instructions (input via I2C) into a synchronous serial data stream to feed into a serial DAC.
